Act Now! Virginia Senate Votes TOMORROW (TUES., FEB. 4)!
A bill that would
make electrocution the default method of execution in Virginia when drugs for lethal injection are
not available, SB 607, will be voted on by the full State Senate tomorrow, Tues., Feb. 4. While
we as Catholics oppose executing people by any method, SB 607 demands attention
because electrocution is a particularly barbaric method. Please email your
Senator asking him/her to oppose SB 607. Go to https://www.votervoice.net/VACC/campaigns/34424/respond for a pre-drafted message you can send quickly and easily.
An account of electrocution -- not as graphic as some, but horrifying enough -- can be found on the website of the American Civil Liberties Union at https://www.aclu.org/capital-punishment/execution-methods.
