Dear Colleagues,

Several states in India are currently grappling with severe flood situations caused by incessant rainfall and rising river levels. Assam has been particularly affected since late June, with 16 districts and thousands of villages submerged, leading to extensive damage to infrastructure and agriculture. The flood in Uttar Pradesh, starting in early July, has claimed numerous lives and displaced hundreds of thousands, with ongoing rescue and relief efforts. Kerala and Karnataka are also facing challenges from heavy rains, triggering landslides and disrupting normal life, while Tamil Nadu has reported incidents of flooding and property damage due to torrential downpours.

Please find the Situation Report – 02, Flood in India for more details.

Warm Regards

Altamash Khan

Subject: RE: Situation Report 3 - Floods in North-Eastern states of India, esp. Assam & Manipur

Dear Colleagues,

Please find the Situation Report-03 on North-East Flood (esp. Assam & Manipur) attached for your reference and detailed information.

The Inter Agency Group (IAG) - Assam has also initiated a Joint Rapid Needs Assessment starting Monday, 8th July 2024, with the preliminary report expected by Friday, 12th July 2024. To complement their efforts, the URS Matrix sheet is being planned for circulation among responding agencies in Assam.

We request all members and local agencies to complete updating the information on the URS matrix (5W Matrix) using the following link: http://tiny.cc/URS_AssamFloods2024.  This will help achieve a common understanding and facilitate a better-coordinated response among the agencies planning to respond or are already responding in the state.

URS Matrix will be crucial for our collective efforts in managing the ongoing emergency effectively.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Warm Regards

Dear Colleagues,

Incessant heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding across Assam and Manipur, impacting millions of people. In Assam, 29 districts are affected with over 2.1 million people displaced, 52 lives lost, and extensive damage to homes and crops.

The Brahmaputra and other rivers are flowing above danger levels, exacerbating the crisis. In Manipur, ongoing heavy rains have caused rivers to breach banks, affecting over 20,000 people and causing landslides that damaged over 3,800 houses. Efforts are underway to evacuate and provide relief to affected communities amidst challenging conditions.

Please find the updated Situation Report 2 on Floods in North-East India, especially the situations in Assam and Manipur.

Dear colleagues

Greetings from Sphere India

The North-Eastern states of India are grappling with severe flooding due to incessant heavy rainfall over the past few days.

Assam has been the hardest hit, with over 11.3 lakh people affected across 23 districts and significant infrastructure damage reported. Other states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, are also experiencing flood-like situations, landslides, and widespread displacement of residents. The respective state governments, along with national disaster response teams, are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations to mitigate the impact of this natural calamity.

Please find the Situation Report -1 of flood in north east India with special focus on Assam flood situation.
