Dear Colleagues,

Cold waves in the Himalayan region have become a recurring seasonal challenge, bringing sudden temperature drops, prolonged extreme cold, and increased risks for communities living in geographically fragile and hard-to-reach areas. These events disrupt agriculture, horticulture, livestock productivity, and public health making anticipatory preparedness more critical than ever.

As extreme winter events intensify, there is a growing need to understand how early warning systems, community-led mechanisms, and cross-sector coordination can reduce cold wave impacts and strengthen resilience across the Himalayan states.

We invite you to join the National Webinar in collaboration with ADRA India
“Cold Wave in the Himalayan Region and the Role of Anticipatory Action”

Date: 11th December 2025
Time: 02:00 PM – 03:30 PM (IST)
Zoom Link: http://tiny.cc/coldwave_himalayan_region

This session will bring together experts to discuss forecasting gaps, sector-specific impacts on agriculture and livestock, local preparedness mechanisms, and models for forecast-based financing and multi-stakeholder engagement. The consultation will deepen collective understanding of actionable triggers and pre-emptive measures that can protect vulnerable communities before cold wave impacts peak.

We welcome you to engage with practitioners, share your insights, and contribute to strengthening anticipatory, resilient, and community-centered winter preparedness systems.
