Dear Colleagues,
Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) has become a vital tool for understanding the full scale of disaster impacts extending beyond physical damage to assess losses in livelihoods, essential services, social systems, and environmental assets. As climate-induced disasters intensify across India, strengthening PDNA capacities is essential to support coordinated, evidence-based, and inclusive recovery planning.
With increasing reliance on technology, indigenous knowledge, and multi-sector collaboration, there is an urgent need to deepen collective understanding of PDNA frameworks and strengthen national and state-level capabilities for resilient recovery.
We invite you to join the National Webinar organised by Sphere India Academy:
“Strengthening Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA): Integrating Technology, Indigenous Knowledge & Multi-Sector Recovery Planning”
Date: 16th December 2025
Time: 03:00 PM – 04:40 PM (IST)
Zoom Link: http://tiny.cc/PDNA
The webinar will explore the global PDNA methodology and its relevance for India, emphasising the need for multi-sector and inter-agency coordination. It will highlight the use of GIS, remote sensing, UAVs, AI, and platforms like NDEM and Bhuvan, along with the value of indigenous knowledge, community-led assessments, and early warning cues. The session will also focus on disability-inclusive approaches and share key insights from Kerala’s PDNA experience, particularly district-level learnings from Wayanad.
We welcome your participation and look forward to your valuable insights in shaping stronger PDNA and recovery systems.
