Scooters (Psycho Pink Pandas)

Dear Humans*;

I know you have all been tired of hearing me talk about my scooter gang, which has so far had only limited real world production deployments. I’d like you all to come help me fix this! The scooter gang is “Psycho Pink Pandas” - hopefully we can get some badges made if people want them**.

Don’t have a motorcycle license? Not a problem! The Psycho Pink Pandas like to learn in production, you can join scoot (http://www.scootnetworks.com) without a motorcycle license and ride the electric scooters***! You get an exciting 30 minutes of training which is totally maybe enough to operate a motorcycle in San Francisco.

Wish you had a motorcycle license? It turns out its not that hard to get if you have a weekend to spare. You can go do the test at the DMV or take a class at http://www.motorcycleschool.com/sanfrancisco/calendar.php to get the test waived.

Already have a scooter? That is fucking awesome! I hope you have a license but I mean its not like I’m going to be checking.

So I’ve been rambling on for a long time already, it's time to get down to the brass tracks****. The inaugural ride of the Psycho Pink Pandas will be from 21st and Bartlet up to 16th and mission and then on over to Hot Cookie ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/hot-cookie-san-francisco  ) for delicious mid ride cookies. Our first ride is going to be on August 16nth starting at about 1pm :)

Don’t want to ride at all? Thats cool too - I get that being a Psycho Pink Panda isn’t for everyone. You can still come meet up with us for delicious delicious cookies.

Have you ever said to yourself “I wish I had more sparkly rings in my life”? While not for the Psycho Pink Pandas, our sister project (Sparkling Pandas http://sparklingpandas.com/ ) has adopted http://www.chemjoy.com/fashion-rhinestone-panda-cocktail-ring.html as our ring of choice.

Now I know everyone here just loves all the wonderful e-mail you get from me, but so I can make sure I only e-mail the interested Psycho Pink Pandas, I’ve gone ahead and created a Google Group ( https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/psychopinkpandas ) and a Facebook Group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/736726889724604/ )  so that I can send the ride e-mails to a smaller group (and spend less time too cause I’m lazy).

* Invite open to everyone, not just humans. Must have a valid drivers license.

** I mean we need patches if we want to ride as a group with Dykes on Bikes in Pride next year, but I understand thats not for everyone.

** Includes 30 whole minutes of training. So much training, very wow.

Thats awesome! I was looking at getting some made on the internet and they all looked super sketch, so yay doing it "in house" :) 

I want a jean vest. Send me logo ideas/imagery?! There's so much potential... pandas? Exploding gemstones? Beams of light? Crystals? 

So the current base for the design is a card that Carolyn made with two Pandas on a Pink Vespa, I sent it to the highest quality* image editing service to get it vectorized and fancy things so we can see what we get back and go from there?** Or we can do something totally new from the ground up too :)

Unfortunately I am out of town for the first ride but I will prepare for ride #2 by buying sparkling tights.

Thats a great plan, more sparkles ftw. I'll set up a doodle for the next ride day after the first one is done :)

So the Psycho Pink Pandas inaugural ride is now going to be a week early, starting on August 9nth instead (rest of the detail remain the same). This is because I will be in NYC @ PyGotham giving a talk with Juliet. Hopefully this works for people, but if not we can post-pone it until post burning man pandas.
