San Francisco Dykes on Bikes® needs your help!

As many of you know, this April one of the founding members of SF Dykes on Bikes passed away. The SF Pride Board recognized Soni’s decades of activism and contributions to the fight for LGBTQ equality when they appointed her as a Grand Marshall for this year’s LGBTQ Pride Parade prior to her passing. Soni will be represented in the parade, as the motorcycle tank from when she rode in the late 1970s will be carried in a car that follows our contingent. It will be a moving tribute. 

 

It will be a moving tribute, but to help make the whole day go smoothly, we are in need of volunteers for Road Captain, Line-up and Registration!

 

Road Captains: must be experienced riders and have ridden in the parade. They help create and hold a safe, comfortable, fun space so all the riders can celebrate our Pride.

Line-Up: volunteers help line-up up to 400 bikes so everyone can ride down Market St.

Registration: makes sure each motorcycle has the right stickers for Line-up.

 

All volunteer positions allow you to still ride in the parade.

 

Road Captain/Line-up meetings will be held on the following dates:

Sunday, June 10^th 11:00 AM at Muddy Waters (521 Valencia St at 16^th St, San Francisco)

Wednesday, June 13^th at 7:00 PM (before the SFDOBWMC meeting) at the SF Eagle Tavern (12^th and Harrison St)

Sunday, June 17^th, 12:30 PM at Heart and Dagger Saloon (504 Lake Park Ave, Oakland)

Wednesday, June 20^th at 7:00 PM (before the SFDOBWMC meeting) at the SF Eagle Tavern (12^th and Harrison St)

On June 24^th (Parade Day!), we ask that all volunteers arrive at 7AM in order to check in and attend a meeting at 7:20 AM to be held on Market St just up from Steuart St for up-to-date instructions and assignments.
