44 KENYAN CIVIL SERVANTS COMPLETE DUTY
Friday, 17 May 2013 15:00 |
Forty-four Kenyan civil service support officers from the
Inter-governmental Authority on Development or IGAD completed their
two-year duty in South Sudan.

The group was part of the 79 skilled civil servants from Kenya sent to
mentor South Sudan counterparts.

Kenyan ambassador to South Sudan Cleveland Leshore said the presence
of their civil servants in the last two years was one key component
contribution of Kenya.

He added that the team successfully completed the two years mentorship
in various departments.

Acting Minister for Labour, Public Service and Human Resource
Development Kwong Danhier Gatluak said the 44 personnel had done a lot
in the country especially in Juba, Malakal and Bentiu hospitals.

He added that the group came as volunteers to help the new country,
and not as job seekers.

Mr Danhier said another 156 civil servants from Kenya, Uganda and
Ethiopia are still working until the end of their two-year period.

IGAD seconded 200 civil service support officers to build the
capacities of South Sudan civil servants in different ministries.
