Wau Teaching Hospital Overwhelmed By Malaria Cases
The Medical Director of Wau Teaching Hospital, Dr. Edmon Sebit has said that the hospital is being overwhelmed by cases of malaria and other diseases since the beginning of this year.

“Among the most cases reported on daily basis at the hospital is Malaria rapid diagnostic tests RDT, server malaria for less than five years of age including Diarrhoea, pneumonia and malnutrition mostly among children less than 5 years,” said Sebit.
Since the beginning of this year, Dr. Edmon Sebit said Wau Teaching Hospital has so far recorded the following figures; malaria RDT under five years, 285 cases, malaria uncomplicated positive under five years, 141 cases while server malaria ranks at 135 cases.Meanwhile there have been about 1,092 malaria RDT cases including 635 unconfirmed cases among adults.
Sebit said that there has also been 63 Diarrhoea cases including 23 server malnutrition casesand out of the 23 malnutrition cases, five of them were discharged from the hospital.
Sebit said Wau teaching hospital in collaboration with other health partners operating in Wau State are currently taking malaria control awareness including the on-going distribution of mosquito nets.“Now, we are distributing mosquito nets, we are urging our people to always during night use their mosquito nets as the main preventive method,” said Sebit.
