Refugees at Yida camp still complaining about food shortage

YIDA (10 Apr.)

Thousands of refugees from Sudan’s Nuba Mountains who are currently living in Yida camp in South Sudan’s Ruweng State are still complaining about shortages of food, shelter and basic services.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, several refugees said the food ration given to them by aid agencies in the camp is not sufficient. They further said they depended on their own cultivation to supplement the food aid but due to lack of rains this year; they could not produce any food.

The Nuba refugees pointed out the recent call by the aid organizations for them to relocate to Pamir and Ajuong Thok camps could deteriorate the situation further. The complaining refugees revealed that since last year, about 40,000 refugees were not provided with shelter.
