The
National Legislative Assembly members on Wednesday turned furious due
to the failure of Finance Minister and Central Bank Governor to respond
to summon on exchange rate reforms.
Speaker Manasseh Magok Rundial said the failure of Aggrey Tisa
Sabuni and Cornelio Koryom Mayiek to appear before legislators without
official communication was a serious matter.
He wondered why the officials disappointed the parliament.
Speaker Rundial ruled that Tisa and Koryom would be re-summoned.
Legislators remain discontented with the ruling and pushed the
house to pass a verdict against Tisa and Koryom for failing to appear
before the assembly.
Minority Leader Onyoti Adigo Nyikwec said the act was contempt to the parliament.
He demanded the parliament to take legal action against Minister
Tisa and Bank Governor Koryom quoting article 82 of Transitional
Constitution.
MP Deng Dau Deng of Twic East County supported the decision taken against the officials in their absence.
He pointed out that the economic decision Tisa and Koryom took was grave.
Government Chief Whip Tulio Odongi Ayahus requested the assembly to
pray for Cornelio Koryom who was reportedly hospitalized in Nairobi,
Kenya.
He said the two officials should appear before the assembly together.
