WAU, 13 July 2017 [Gurtong] –In a statement released on Wednesday,
CEPO welcomed the move and called for more increase of female leaders
in the State government’s positions including County Commissioners.

“Community Empowerment for Progress Organization would like to take
this opportunity to congratulate H. Andrea Mayar Acho the Governor of
Wau State for his wise and patriotic decision by appointing a woman,
Cecilia Livio Ngelego Bahra as a deputy Governor,” reads part of the
statement.

“CEPO is grateful to the appointment of Madam Bahra in the position of
Deputy Governor as CEPO has previously appealed for this seat to be
filled by a woman. For this CEPO, would strongly like to thank the
Governor for his trust put on the women of Wau State. A female being a
deputy Governor demonstrates the State government’s commitment for
upholding the article 16(4) provision of South Sudan Transitional
Constitution,” it said.

Stephen Robo also urges Cecilia to strongly stand and protect women
and children’s rights and to work for the unity of the community in
Wau.

The activist particularly in person appreciated the former Wau town
Mayor Mel Aleu Goc for maintaining Law and order in the town while
serving as a Mayor of Wau town.
