March 7, 2017(Nyamilepedia) —— A troop of government militias, which
has been contained by the armed opposition, SPLA-IO, in Palieth
suburbs of Ayod town for the last two years, moved out of their
trenches yesterday and launched attacks in the neighboring Wau and
Mogok Payams.
According to SPLA-IO sources in the area, the SPLA-IG, which is loyal
to president Salva Kiir, launched an unprovoked attacks in Wau
yesterday at around 10:30am, Monday, March 06, 2017.
After capturing Wau Payam, a distance of two hours away from Ayod
town, the troops went on killing civilians including children and
elders before proceeding to Mogok Payam where they killed a local
chief and more civilians.
“the Juba regime soldiers of Salva Kiir Mayardit around Ayod targeted
directly the civilian population of Wau and Mogok where they rounded
up some families and summerly executed three (3) unarmed men, one (1)
woman and a child in Wau and Mogok respectively” Said the SPLA-IO
spokeman, Col. William Gatjiath Deng.
Gatjaith narrates that the loyal troops brutally slaughtered Chie
Pajok Pathoat of Chieng Kapel of Gawaar-Nuer and burned him in his
hut.
“The elderly and most revered Chief Pajok Pathoat of Chieng Kepel was
also slaughtered, beheaded and burnt in his hut.” He continued.
The SPLA-IO sources confirm that their troops and local youth, known
as the White Army, responded and repulsed the government attacks in
Mogok, north of Wau, and pursued them up to Wau town.
“In their attempt to rescue the besieged and fleeing civilians from
these brutalities, the gallant SPLA-IO forces of Division Seven (7)
under the command of Major General Simon Diang Duoth Deng engaged the
Juba regime solders, contained their atrocious movements and pursued
them back from Mogok to their base around Wau town.” Gatjiath said.
“The same Monday the 6/3/2017, the brutal and merciless Juba regime
also moved out their expedition toward Pajiek the HQs of Ayod County
and they were ambushed on their way and severely beaten and repulsed.”
He continued.
Although the government SPLA-IG spokesman is yet to response, Gatjiath
claims that their forces killed 37 soldiers on the opponent side.
“In the heat of the fighting that followed, the gallant SPLA-IO forces
killed thirty seven (37) of Juba soldiers (17) killed at Wau-Mogok
road and other (20) killed at Pajiek ambush.” Col. Gatjiath continued.
“Those other Juba regime soldiers that moved towards Wau and attempted
to overran Mogok County in the same evening to carry out further
atrocities against the civilian population they have been surrounded
by the gallant SPLA-IO forces and God knows their fate, as the gallant
SPLA-IO forces boost their presence and reinforcement in and around
the area of Wau County.” He concludes.
South Sudan conflict, which has caused famine and collapse of economy,
is fought on thin tribal lines with a lot of hatred and need to settle
old scores and grudges.
According to the United Nations reports, genocide and famines are
happening on daily bases in South Sudan; however, members of the
international community, independent journalists and humanitarian aid
workers are restricted from entering areas like Wau Payam where
government forces and allied militias are committing atrocities.
