Man Caught In Possession Of Opium Arrested In Wau

CID Police in Wau town today arrested a man found in possession of two boxes of opium.

The Man identified as Chuti Mathiang was planning to smuggle the opium to Wunrock in Gogrial State.

According to Achuil Achuil, the Director for police at Wau municipality, the man was caught at Block D check point at Baryar residential area trying to cross to Wunrock.“This morning, there was a car that travelled from Suk- Ajar Park. According to the information, the car was travelling to Wunrock and it left the road which it was supposed to use of Zoklona and used Block D Baryar. During the checking, the CID officer got two boxes containing 23 bundles of opium and opium is illegal,” said Achuil Achuil.“It is a crime of which one can be charged with a death penalty. We have arrested the owner and the evidence is here with us now at the municipality and the culprit is now with us and the police will make all necessary investigations,” he said.
The accused said that he is aware that opium is illegal in the country but has been forced to engage in the business of selling opium in order to help his family survive.
