Kiir in Nairobi to attend Kenya’s jubilee independence celebrations
NAIROBI, 12, December 2013 - President Salva Kiir Mayardit of the
Republic of South Sudan is expected to be among the 19 heads of states
to grace Kenya’s jubilee independence celebration at Safaricon Stadium
today.
President Kiir arrived in Nairobi from the South African Capital
Johannesburg on Wednesday, after bidding farewell to the human dignity
Icon, Nelson Mandela who died a week ago. President Kiir and the
accompanying delegation was warmly received at Jomo Kenyatta
International Airport by Senoir Kenyan Officials.

Presidents Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, Seretse Khama of Botswana,
Joseph Kabila of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Yoweri Kaguta
Museveni of Uganda, Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania among other regional
leaders are expected to attend Kenya's 50 years of self rule.
Kenya attained independence from British rule in December 12, 1963
with Jomo Kenyatta, father of Kenya’s incumbent President Uhuru
Kenyata becoming the first president of the country.

CE minister meets transport minister over construction of New Juba Bridge
JUBA, 12 December 2013 – Central Equatorial minister of physical
infrastructure Hon. Jimmy Wongo on Tuesday met with the national
deputy minister of Roads and Transport to Hon. Simon Mijok Mijak to
discuss the plea of the community whose livelihood will be affected by
the construction of the proposed new bridge across the Nile.
Speaking to the reporters of the meeting, Hon Jimmy Wongo said there
visit “was to discuss with the minster the process of compensation to
the community living in the area earmarked for the construction of the
new bridge”. He said the community leaders who agreed ‘not to
interfere’ with the construction of the bridge demand the fast
tracking of the compensation process.
Hon. Wongo who described the meeting fruitful said they got the
assurance of the deputy transport minister to “continuously discussing
the matter with community and at the level of ministry”.
Present at the meeting was also the Mayor of Juba City Christopher
Sarafino, Commissioner of Juba City and the local communities leaders
from both Gumbo and Lologo areas lying on either sides of the Nile
River.

Peace and reconciliation committee endorses 2014-2016 action plan
JUBA, 12 December 2013 (NASS) - The National healing, Peace and
reconciliation committee has endorsed it plan of action for the 2014 –
2016, which will include the consultations at all levels, state and
national levels. The plan come as a result of the second meeting of
committee held in Kuron Village of Eastern Equatoria state on 6,
December, the chairperson of the committee Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul
said.

Addressing the media at the Ministry of Information Meeting hall on
Wednesday, Archbishop Bul expressed the committees’ gratitude to the
government and international partners for availing the resources to
the national healing and reconciliation committee, which he said, has
helped the peace body to facilitate its duties. The Archbishop further
appealed to the partners and government to continue supporting the
activities of the committee in order to fulfill its mission.
Meanwhile Bishop Faride Taban urged the citizens of South Sudan to
maintain peace, unity and forgiveness among themselves, adding that
the process of the heaing, peace and reconciliation committee is
“meaningless without sense of forgiveness. He also called for patience
saying, “the task of reconciliation will take time”.
