Fellow HistComm members:

I sent a Letter to the Editor of the Gazette, the Republican, and the Town
Reminder, encouraging people to volunteer for the Historic District Study
Committee.

As you can see below, the Gazette has offered to print a “Guest Column”
about our historic district effort.

Even if you are not going to serve on the Study Committee, please feel free
to send me up to 500 words. I would like to include sentences quoting
Historical Commission members, such as:
-“Mr./Ms. X, who has been involved in the restoration of the Sycamores
property on Woodbridge St, believes that “….
OR
-“Mr./Ms. Y, who has studied the houses on North Main Street and Canal St.,
thinks that “…

I will draft my own comments, combine the submissions, and then send back to
you all a draft for your comments.

I will wait to submit the column until the Selectboard appoints the Study
Committee, sometime after December 17. Then, I can also include language
such as, “The Selectboard has now appointed the Study Committee, which
includes Mr. X, Ms. Y, and Mr. Z. The Committee will publish the dates of
its meeting, and all residents are welcome to attend. If you have a
suggestion or a comment for the Study Committee, please send it to
HYPERLINK "mailto:historical...@southhadley.org"
historical...@southhadley.org.”

Chris Skelly: If you want to give me some language, for instance, about
successful western MA districts, I will include it.

Bonnie Parsons: I will want to name you in the column, and I would like a
detailed one quote from you. Perhaps you could just copy and paste from
your recent email about the various kinds of properties that we must
consider.

Robert: Thank you for your letter to the editor. When I read the story about
the historic district moving along, I thought about contacting you and
asking if you wanted to write a guest column, detailing the history of this
effort and outlining what you hope it will accomplish. Would you be
interested in expanding on this for a guest column, something in the range
of 500-750 words?
