SHORT COURSE 2012: Systematic reviews and meta-analysis

 

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University, will be offering a short course on Systematic reviews and meta-analysis from July – November 2012. This course will enable students to understand the methods for conducting a systematic review to answer a clearly defined question about the effects of a health care intervention.

 

The course is offered by staff from the Centre for Evidence-based Health Care www.sun.ac.za/cebhc with support from the SA Cochrane Centre. Using a combination of contact time in the class and self study using WebStudies (the Universities online learning platform) students will learn find and read systematic reviews, and will also learn the methods to conduct a robust systematic review. During the course each participant will have the opportunity to develop their own protocol for a systematic review.

 

The course is equivalent to the Systematic reviews and meta-analysis module in the MSc in Clinical Epidemiology www.sun.ac.za/clinepi.

Prerequisites

·        Biostatistics

·        Basic epidemiology

 

Cost: R2200

 

Closing date of applications:  31 May 2012

 

The course is accredited for 30 CPD points in level 1
