Hello!

I have been curious about building small WFS system for experiment. (as a first step, I am considering 16 ch system.)

So I installed SSR on my linux computer, and also I am currently learning hardware.
some people use multichannel motu audio interface. However, it seems not possible to operate motu audio interface with linux computer.

Does anyone has any recommendation on audio interface for WFS system with linux computer?

Any info will be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Naohiro

Hi Naohiro,

All the systems that I have worked with use RME hardware: https://www.rme-audio.de/en/products/overview_madi_aes.php But these are on the pricey side.

Most of the existing audio interfaces will work on linux as you can deduce from the ALSA website: https://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main There are not so many that will give you 16 analog output channels. So the options are only few anyways.

A solid solution is https://en.antelopeaudio.com/products/orion-32/ It provides 32 channels in and out for less than $3000. We're using it on Mac, though. I have no experience on linux but I'm sure that you can find information on this.

Hope that helps!

Greets,
Jens

Hi Jens,

Thank you so much for your info! It is so helpful!
I have read RME often used in professional WFS system, but it's too expensive.

On the other hand, Antelope is very interesting. I'll continue researching on it.

Again thank you so much!
Naohiro
