Hi,

once again I have a few questions:

1. To control the ssr from inside my DAW, I use a vst-plugin to generate OSC-messages (ToscA from IRCAM) inside the DAW and a pd-patch
to translate these messages and send it to SSR and vice versa. This makes it very easy to communicate with the SSR without having an extra vst-plugin build.

By now I use the x and y position coordinates to move the sources. But it would be nicer to use distance and azimuth. I figured out, that SSR puts out at least
azimuth only for plane wave, but not for point sources. Is there a way to have these values output for point sources too?

2. As SSR allready has a build in network interface: Would it be possible / useful to implement OSC for communication with other software?
I think it would make things much easier when dealing with other audio software

3. Are there any future plans to realise elevation to get "real 3D"? Or is the development stuck?

Thanks a lot for help and hints!

Regard,

Christian

Hello,

I implemented an OSC-Interface for my university, but didn't deemed it
useful to publish, as it used only one method, implemented by another
proprietary device.

However if you could tell me which methods you need, I would set up a
branch in my github to implement the changes you need and open a pull
request to the main repository.
As another option the OSC interface could mimick the options of the XML
interface and place them in an /ssr/ address space.

Greetings
Daniel

The azimuth of plane waves is not what you think!
Plane waves have cartesian coordinates that specify one (arbitrary) point on the zero-phase line. The azimuth value specifies in which direction the plane wave propagates.

There are and have been several attempts on this, one of which was mentioned by Daniel in his response to this thread.
You should subscribe to our Github issues to stay informed (and to participate in discussions).
And there are others, some of which were not (yet) announced publicly.

Feel free to edit the page!

 3. Are there any future plans to realise elevation to get "real 3D"?

Sure, we have had those plans since about a decade.

Or is the development stuck?

Looks like it. But who knows, probably tomorrow somebody provides a PR.

cheers,
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

sorry for the late response and thanks for your answer.
I didn't knew there were such things in the wiki and on github.

@Daniel: Before you start working on this I will first take a look at
this and see if it will fit my needs. So in case you don't have to waste time.
Thanks a  lot for your offer!

Best,

Christian
