How to automate an application from a Remote desktop

Hi,

Recently i joined as a Automation tester..actually my application
is in one server,but QTP tool is in some other server..if i want to
work with QTP tool i have to take the remote Desktop conection and i
should log in to that server...so in this case how can i automate my
application..
PLease suggest me with some steps....

You can't do it.

The reason is that the way that QTP interacts with the application is
that it inspects the windows and objects. In a remote desktop window,
everything happening on the remote computer is reduced to a large
graphic. You'll just be clicking at X,Y locations not in windows or
objects.

You have to install QTP on the remote computer.

So u mean to say the QTP and the application should be in the same server right?

Yes. That's my understanding.

SilkTest offers a reduced version of their application (without the GUI) and floating licenses so you may want to look into whether QTP has a similar scheme.
