EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY-Full Time
Psychologist, LPC or LCSW: Opportunity with brain biofeedback/License required Valley Forge, PA
Brain biofeedback (Neurofeedback) uses computer and EEG technology to " tune up the brain." By measuring brain EEG activity, a computer game teaches you to change specific patterns of brain activity. By increasing or decreasing activation levels, through EEG training-- and improving communication between brain regions, the brain can function more efficiently. For example, the frontal lobe or temporal lobe performs better (such as in controlling executive function or emotional regulation). This in turn can help attention, mood, memory, behavior, sleep, and more. This training often has significant impact -- there's increasing published research on its effects on a variety of conditions, from ADHD, to migraines, to OCD, to depression and anxiety. When clients want reduced medications -- or medications are not managing all their symptoms, neurofeedback can be a highly effective tool.
Clinical Provider Role: Provide full time clinical services that include psychotherapy, parent training and biofeedback. You must learn neurofeedback and other forms of biofeedback well, under the training and support of psychologists who have been doing Neurofeedback for over ten years and provide support to other offices in the Neurofeedback community. Neurofeedback is a fascinating and rewarding field -- but there's a big learning curve. It will take time to get up to speed. Some type of internship will probably be needed to get started. Initially, the position may start on a part time basis, several days per week. The goal - to scale up to full time as rapidly as possible, though it could take up to six months to become versed in all aspects of the office. The learning is ongoing, as we are providing services in a field which is constantly developing.
