Happy Birthday, Travelites.
It’s difficult to believe that Travelites, Inc. is now into its 25th
year. It is the only nonlanded naturist club in South Carolina with
members throughout the Carolinas, Georgia and elsewhere. A nonlanded
club is one that has no permanent property. Members meet at members’
homes with facilities such as pools, hot tubs, volleyball and
horseshoe courts and visit landed clubs, those with permanent
facilities such as Serendipity in Cleveland, Georgia. Members also
have clothed events. Nudists generally are clothed when practical,
nude when possible in appropriate settings. Travelites is affiliated
with the American Association for Nude Recreation (www.aanr.com) as
well as The Naturist Society (www.naturistsociety.com). Nudism is
about de-stressing, relaxing, and returning to innocence.

The club has been fine-tuned over the years, but the original essence
remains. The direction of the club will never veer from its origins,
a family-friendly and single-friendly organization. The club as grown
and matured with a very busy schedule all year long including its
annual canoe trip, this is the 15th year, over National Nude Weekend
on July 9th and an annual auction to help support the Sistercare, a
charity for abused women and their children. Naturist Action
Committee, AANR Education Foundation, and American Nudist Research
Library. This year’s event started during the Mexican Fiesta and World
Naked Gardening event in May and will conclude at the Patriots’ Party
Fish & Shrimp Fry in September. People from around the country are
urged to and have participated over the years since mail order is
available for many of the items. The item listing can be found on
their homepage at www.travelites.info.

The club has always given back to the community starting with
participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program in which it shepherded
its 2-mile stretch of Highway 378 in Lexington County for eight
years. Over the years, donations have been made to not only
Sistercare, but also the Carolina Children’s Home, Palmetto Health
Children’s Hospital, the Salvation Army’s Christmas Shoe Fund, and
others.

The club maintains not only its official website but also has a
Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Travelites/128593297177404
as well as a MySpace presence at http://www.myspace.com/travelites.
This year’s canoe trip as in previous years, welcomes not only
Travelites’ members but also Triangle Area Naturists, North Carolina
Naturists as well as some landed club’s members. The club has been
invited over the years to have articles written in local newspapers as
well as be part of various radio programs and has been on television
as well. Nudism is about accepting yourself and others for who you
are, how you act, and what you say rather than what you look like,
own, or wear; it’s the great human equalizer.

Travelites, Inc. looks forward to many more happy and productive
years.
