im doing breast cancer and their is no hereditary link to the disease just the somatic mutations that cause the cancer to grow so i dont have a phenotypic expression  is that ok?

wat?????
DUDE
phenotypic expression is SYMPTOMS
there must be a hereditary link
probably something like if there are mutations then they are passed down through generations right?
so u have both

I thought that I woman was at higher risk for breast cancer if it was in her family already, like her aunt or mother had it etc. BREAT CANCER HAS TO BE THE EASIEST DISEASE ON THAT LIST!!! HOW can you NOT find any phenotypic exPRESSION???

i meant genotypic expression   and no their are heridatry mutations that lead to breast cancer but no direct sexual linkage to the disease

ja-son
the disease does NOT have to be sex linked
find out whether it is autosomal dominant or autosomal recessive
and thats ur genotype
say i got the mutations when i was born, like i didnt inherit them, my genes got mutated, and say it was autosomal dominant
then whichever of my kids are heterozygous/homozygous dom will have risk of the disease, because they inherited the mutated one from me
right?

wow ok way to make him feel stupid

jason phenotype doesnt mean just looks
it means anything that can be observed
if u can observe it its a phenotype
like u can see seizures so thats a phenotype
stuff like that

I did bullet points. But my topic is anemia in general, so I picked this really obscure one called "Diamond Blackfan Anemia" whereas Tom's is "Sickle Cell Anemia" which is more common so he probably has more info on it. I think it depends on your disorder, like Phoebe's which has a lot of info, vs someone else with less info.

for phenotypic expression, should we have just images or a paragraph about what it looks like phenotypically and images. because, i spoke with mr. smirk about my topic (alzheimer's disease) and he said have some catscan images of the brain showing AD, so i was unsure. what do you guys think?

yeah like for mine there are a lot of symptoms so i put a list of them and some of the less graphic pictures that show the easier to see symptoms, and then i added captions to the pics

oh, and i wrote a few sentences for each, it just has to be the main points of whatever you're talking about and then you can explain the details when presenting.
