to Silicon Beach Australia - distributed database initiative
First of all, big apologies. I have been swallowed with my day job
that has become a night job, early hours of morning job, and weekend
job. This week and next things should be back to normal, but still a
bad time for me.
With that however, I appreciate the efforts especially Jason. However
I think we need a bit more focus now on what we are doing.
What we need is a way to display on the website of their choice (blog,
siliconbeach database, partner website like webequity, etc) the
following core information
Base information
- first name
- surname
- location
Online presence
- facebook profile
- twitter profile
- LinkedIn profile
- Flickr profile
- Friendfeedprofile
Affiliations
- current employer
- previous employers
- industry organisations
Of course, the above can build over time but this I believe are the
bare minimum because it will enable us to determine
- who exists
- where they are
- where they can be contacted/interacted with
- what are the current projects/organisations/etc that they spend
their time on
Apart from the above, I want to also have a skills database. So for
example, it would start broad like "accounting" but over time we can
make it more specific like "Residency and source of income advice". Or
perhaps " developer" which can drill down to "PHP5 - intermediate".
but let's leave that for now, baby steps first.
Again, with all the above, this is something we can evolve but that's
easy - let's start with something first.
So how can we do this as easily as possible?
- Should Jason's experiment be exttend so people fill out a form?
- Should we adapt a microformat plugin and have wordpress,
moveabletype versions?
Thoughts?
