Hello,
Since moving to Toolbox on Mac (via CrossOver) I've been having the
classic problem of characters with diacritics disappearing altogether,
despite using DoulosSIL and checking the Unicode UTF+8 box.

So:
\gn dugô
becomes
\gn dug

A search of posts in this forum leads me to conclude that I simply
need to add the missing diacritics to the Sort Order via Project ->
Language Encodings.

Alas! The Sort Order box appears to operate on its own strange logic -
when I type in an uppercase letter it renders it lowercase, when I try
to enter a character via the character palette nothing happens,
unicode hex input doesn't work, and worst of all I can't even cut and
paste into the Sort Order box.

Am I missing something obvious? Is this perhaps an issue with Toolbox
with Mac CrossOver?

Help!

Thanks in advance,

Piers

If something is missing from the sort order, it sorts into the wrong
place (the end of the sorting list) but it is plainly visible. (When
interlinearizing the character will be treated as punctuation and
discarded from the parsed form of the data, but that is a different
matter -- the unparsed line still shows it.)

When something disappears altogether, it is most likely that you are
trying to display non-Unicode data as Unicode. The result is an
invalid Unicode sequence which is not displayed. Try turning off the
UTF-8 setting and see if your characters appear.
