I found in the Lancashire BMD a Bridget Simon, age 2 who died in 1852 in the London Road District of Manchester, which is where the Simon family lived during the 1861 census we know for sure. I also found a Thomas Simon, Age 19 who died Apr 1855 in London Road district. I have been looking for records of Thomas’ marriage or transfer to the USA during those same years and have not found anything. I’ve gone ahead and ordered those death certificates because I feel there is a good chance those are our Simons.

We know that in the 1851 census there were two children we don’t know the names for. An infant named Bridget would fit well, in addition to our own James who we know was one of those unreadable names.

If these are our two people, we will have seven of the ten children found. We just need to find the last three, who must have died as infants before 1861, since they are not on the census…and a birth record for John (1852) would be great as well.
