Hello,

I'm a researcher on the EU Smart Society project which has been working on the next generation of platform technologies for the collaborative economy applications and beyond to incorporate collaborative endeavours more generally.  Part of the research has been to look at governance models for these spaces, and to this end we have developed a preliminary social charter for Smart Platforms as part of a rights-based approach towards establishing a more democratic foundation to platforms that are respectful, equitable and balanced in how interests are embedded

I wanted to extend a general invitation to everyone on the list to take part in the consultation (details below), and also to ask if anyone is aware of any other similar endeavor already underway? If so then I would be very interested to hear about them and make contact with the originator.

The consultation is linked to a policy workshop on the 5th December in Brussels. A link to details about workshop can also be found below.

Best wishes,

Consultation around a Social Charter for Smart Platforms

The Smart Society project has been developing a Social Charter for smart platforms which offers a rights-based approach to creating healthy and sustainable platforms that are respectful, fair, equitable and driven by strong communities.

I am writing to you invite to take part in a consultation exercise to help us shape the social charter, both to strengthen it and to anchor it within a broader set of perspectives from relevant communities.

The current version of the social charter is available from the links below. To contribute to the consultation exercise, all you need do is read the social charter and then provide any feedback that you feel is relevant.

You might comment as to whether aspects of the charter are conceptually (un)sound, (in)feasible or (in)complete - as well as any other aspect that strikes you as being important.

If you wish to be credited for your contribution by being named on the charter itself, please indicate this explicitly; otherwise any contribution you make will be recorded as an anonymous contribution.

Drawing on the consultation process we will develop a final version of the charter to be launched on the 5th December in a policy event at Scotland Europa in Brussels. There limited places available, so if you wish to attend let me know.

We are very grateful any help you can give us towards developing the charter into an important and significant tool that contributes towards safer, more equitable, and sustainable Smart Platforms of the future.
