THIS WEEK'S NEWS
(1) Kenya: Off-duty soldier with a handgun saved 100 lives as terrorists ran amok
Daily Mail [UK]
"The
ex soldier was having coffee at the Westgate mall when it was attacked
by Islamists on Saturday. With a gun tucked into his waistband, he was
pictured helping two women from the complex. ... The former soldier is
said to have returned to the building on a dozen occasions, despite
intense gunfire." (09/24/13)
http://tinyurl.com/msclsmj(2) OR: Homeowner pulls gun on knife-wielding intruder
KTVB News
"Dan
Strasser awoke to find an intruder in his home trying to make off with a
laptop, so he yelled at his girlfriend to bring him his gun. ... The
suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Thomas Lowell, then ran into
the garage where Strasser cornered him. Lowell then pulled out a knife
and threatened Strasser but dropped it once he saw the gun, police said.
... Strasser's deaf 3-year-old Springer Spaniel 'Bonnie' then sat on
Lowell until police arrived. Police said Lowell thought the dog was a
police dog and was too scared to move." (09/21/13)

San Francisco Chronicle
"[A]
resident in Knox County says he saw someone break into his neighbor's
van. The resident called 911 to report the burglary, and then called his
neighbor to alert him. Police said the men then got guns and confronted
the suspect. ... 'They advised they contacted 911 and police were on
the way. He attempted to flee the scene and there was an altercation and
that time a gunshot was fired,' Jacobs said." (09/20/13)
http://tinyurl.com/mjnjstc(4) FL: Victim opens fire on armed robbery suspects
WVSN News
"An
armed robbery victim turned the tables on the three men who targeted
him outside a South Florida night club when he chased after them with a
firearm, authorities said. ... an armed man approached the victim, who
was waiting for his wife, and demanded that he remove his money and
jewelry. Fearing for his life, he handed over all his valuables. The
suspect then got inside a car with two other men inside and fled
northbound on Biscayne Boulevard. Investigators said the victim notified
security at the nightclub that he'd been robbed and then got into his
car and followed the suspects while he called 911. Both vehicles
traveled about 30 blocks north of Dean's Gold. A passenger inside the
car noticed they were being followed, and one of the subjects pointed a
gun at the victim, who then reached for his own firearm and exchanged
fire with the suspects." (09/22/13)

(5) Bearing arms: The Second Amendment
Timothy J. Taylor Authority!
by Timothy J Taylor
"Gun
control advocates insist that the founding fathers, using this
language, meant to restrict the right of the people to keep and bear
arms to members of only well regulated militias. After all, that’s what
the sentence seems to say. If founders didn’t intend that meaning, why
didn’t they just leave the part about militias out of it and simply
provide that the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be
infringed? That would have obviated any confusion, right? But wait a
minute; it’s still confusing." (09/26/13)

The Libertarian Enterprise
by Neale Osborn
"So
the UN demands that we must determine if Zimmerman shot Martin out of
hate ... Link. Amazing what the assholes who aid and abet more hate
crimes than any other organization on the face of the earth. Can we
PLEASE just boot the assholes out of the US, and get US out of the UN?"

Strike the Root
by Alex R. Knight III
"Of
course, from any rational standpoint, it should not be up to any
government or set of bureaucrats who shall and who shall not be armed,
and under what circumstances. There is no legitimacy whatsoever to such a
position. But even if Howard Schultz were an ardent anarchist, we could
not expect, necessarily, for him to create conditions that might prove
detrimental to conducting business in an arena that has nothing to do
with firearms in the first place -- one way or another." (09/20/13)
