Hi everyone,

If you don't know me, I am on the board for SOH and have been with SOH since the summer after my freshman year (2012)!

I wanted to reach out to everyone about a potential research opportunity for this summer. I currently work at a lab at UCSF as a lab manager/specialist. We work on heart regeneration and development in zebrafish and mice. We will be having an opening for a hard-working undergraduate for the summer, with the potential to get hired after graduation full time.

I've been in the lab for about 6 months now and it's been an absolutely wonderful experience. You'll get a lot of one-on-one attention from the professor (Guo Huang) as well as learn how to collaborate with other labs/professors on projects. There are also so many seminars and talks available to learn more about all the amazing cutting edge research people here are doing! Also, if you're interested in pursuing an MD, there are a ton of medical professionals that work on research on our floor/building. They are always willing to answer questions and help with anything you need! The only downside to this position is that it's pretty far away from Berkeley if you don't have a car--we are located in Mission Bay. However, I think it's worth the travel time for the experience you will get in this lab.

If you're interested, please send me your updated CV, transcript, and a cover letter describing why you would be a good fit for our lab and what you want out of the experience of working here.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly via email. I will get back to you within 24 hours.

Looking forward to hearing from you if you're interested!

Best,
Rachel
