Hi Team!

Thank you for all coming to the meeting today. It was great seeing both new and old faces. Now, it's time to get to work! There are instructions/minutes/questions for both the undergraduate team AND board, so please read thoroughly and email me if you have any questions!

Present (yay!): Pam, Jake, Tiffany, Lucy, Bailey, Stacie, Paul, Jina

RECAP

1. 5 priority equipment items needed, 2 of which are disposable
-PRIORITY EQUIPMENT: Auto-refractor Keratometer, Ophthalmic Operating Microscope, A-Scan Ultrasound

-PRIORITY DISPOSABLE EQUIPMENT: Intra-Ocular Lenses (IOL), Crescent Blades

2. as we discussed during meeting, please try to shoot for getting at least disposable equipment, if machines are not available for donation/sale

3. Jina, if you can get eye drop donations from the Opt. Clinic you work at that would be great!

4. For any equipment donations, if business/organization is willing to donation, just get the item no matter what
-if the business/organization is willing to sell for a lower price, but is different model than ideal model, then let Pam/David know and we will all discuss with the Board and Dr. Hiwot if we should proceed with purchase

5. IDEAL: GET EVERYTHING AS A DONATION!!!!!

6. Equipment Donation Team: Jake, Paul, Jina

7. Attached to this email is the original priority equipment list created by Bryan. This document can also be found on our SOH folder

FOR BOARD:
-Bryan: Can you ask Dr. Hiwot her procedure for cataract/myopia surgery? We had had a discussion about what IOL sizes we needed to get for the clinic and what Dr. Hiwot's procedure would be for doing this surgery (in case she needed anymore disposable equipment, i.e. eye drops, which can be easily donated)
-also, how much money do we need to have in order to proceed with a space in Bahir Dar (is that including or excluding the $4,500 needed for equipment just in case something breaks)

Hey team,

Thanks for the great meeting.  I just emailed Dr. Hiwot regarding the surgeries and should have a discussion with her soon.  I will keep you posted on a time if you would like to join us.

Regarding the budget, obviously the more resources we have, the higher the chance that our clinic will sustain itself, sooner we can get to a point where it is fully self-funded without any outside help.

That being said if we had all the needed equipment and $4,500+ we'd be in great shape!  If we just have the equipment (which could total to around (10k), then we would be doing well but logistical issues could arise that put us in a dangerous situation.  If we just had $4,500 then we would be starting somewhat in a hole.

I will keep you posted as to any recent developments and feel free to text, email or call me directly if anyone has any questions.
