Slightly off-topic but hopefully of interest to many subscribers, especially those lucky enough to spend time at sea around Hokkaido, the Commander Islands and western Aleutian chain. No doubt the range of this taxa is imperfectly known as are the field ID criteria. If you have photographed 'Baird's beaked whales' it might be worth revisiting the images.
