Aloha, Birders,

9/16/2018 - Kona Coast Pelagic, Hawai'i (30 pax)
8:30am - 2:00pm

Trip Leaders: Lance Tanino and Joshua Rudolph

The weather and ocean conditions in the morning were overcast and cool with very warm conditions and mostly blue skies and intense sun in the afternoon. The ocean conditions were relatively mild with seas ranging from flat to several feet of rolling swells as we went as far as possibly 20 miles at the most offshore to the west-northwest of Kailua-Kona.

Pelagic Highlights:
Juan Fernandez Petrel (2)
Hawaiian Petrel (1)
White-necked Petrel (4) - Only known to breed on Macauley Island of the Kermadec Islands of New Zealand and Australia’s Norfolk and Phillip Islands.

Mahalo,

Lance Tanino
