Please see below a request from Marie Curie for help with an event they
are planning in September. I know that this is going to be before the
start of term for most of you but thought it was worth forwarding on
just in case any of you are about and would like to get involved!

Subject: Marie Curie Cancer Care volunteer collector call Thursday 16
September- State visit of Pope Benedict XVI
Hi there Ian
I've been given your details by Paul Thompson through Richard Cowie at
CRUK.
Marie Curie Cancer Care has been fortunate enough to be named as one of
the beneficiary charities of the State Visit of Pope Benedict XVI.
One of the main benefits is the opportunity to organise a street
collection on Princes St during the morning of the 16th.
Although we have an existing network of volunteers, due to the enormous
scale of the event and the huge crowds expected to line the route of the
Papal procession, we are calling for additional volunteers to help us
maximise this fantastic opportunity.
Paul Thompson recommended that I contact you as you have a great track
record of supporting organisations like ourselves to make the most of
such fundraising activities.
I do hope this is something you feel you could help us with and look
forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards
Robbie
