to Save Bangalore Lakes
Dear All,

I am college student doing my Environmental science degree with a focus in geology and currently spending my summer interning with Peer Water. I was trying to figure out lake flows across Bangalore in particular lakes in Whitefield. Unfortunately I have been unsuccessful trying to connect lakes. I am currently using Openstreetmap which has been very helpful, showing me drains and streams that connect lakes. Not all drains and streams are shown on this map. So I was wondering is you guys know anything on this matter. Research papers would be particularly helpful but I am unable to find any papers on Bangalore Lake Flows. Or if there are other maps that you guys think are going to of help.

Any information on Lake flows in Bangalore would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Yuvraj

Hi Yuvraj

One way of doing

Check the ISRO website Buvan 2D hydrology map http://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in

Second way

Install the Google earth

Download all the kmz maps of Whitefield area from below website
http://landrecords.karnataka.gov.in/service3/

Survey numbers, Lakes and Rajakaluve's will be overlaid on Google map once you double click on the kmz map of each ward or village map

Hope this is what you are looking for

STUP Consultants made a survey of lake connections and water flow around 2011 I think. This is of course probably a bit outdated now given the rate of change in Bangalore, but it is quite detailed and especially helpful because it indicates the direction of the water flow.

It's a large file so I can't attach it, but you can access it here:

Good luck with your study, I'd be very interested in reading it once you are finished!
