hi santa ynez wine folks -

having run into james at lunch today i remember that i meant to send you
guys the announcement for this month's meeting of the santa barbara
winos. sb winos is a wine drinking get-together me and a friend put on
where we get a winemaker to talk about his wines, eat some cheese from
the local cheese shop, and spend the proceeds on charity.

my apologies for the short notice, but if any of you are interested in
joining us wednesday we'd love to have you. alternately, if you'd like
to join our mailing list for future events let me know and i'll sign you up.

hope to see you wednesday....

Howdy Santa Barbara Winos!

Our apologies for disappearing after our March 2007 event. As some of
you have likely heard, we lost access to the previous Winos venue and
have been working to track down an alternate location. For the new year
we have a new venue and a great lineup of vintners who want to come talk
about and share their wines.

Our first 2008 event will be Wednesday the 9th of January, where we'll
be serving the wines of the Los Olivos based Kaena Wine Company
(www.kaenawine.com). Kaena is a low-volume winery that specializes in
Rhone-style wines based on Grenache and Syrah varietals. Mikael Sigouin,
the owner and winemaker of Kaena, will make the trip down to the big
city to tell us about his craft. Each of Michael's wines will be matched
with fine cheeses provided by our friends at C'est Cheese.

As with our previous SB Winos event, proceeds are donated to Heifer
International (www.heifer.org). Our last event netted over $400 toward
Heifer's unique approach to end world hunger and protect the earth.

Our new-and-improved Winos venue is the EOS Lounge at the corner of
Anacapa and Haley streets downtown. The folks at EOS are excited to have
us, so we expect this to be our permanent venue for the near term.

Please RSVP by Friday the 28th of December so that we can ensure
sufficient quantities of beverage and snack.

Champagne reception to begin promptly at 5:30 pm. Tasting to begin
sometime afterwards.

To RSVP or for further information please feel free to either reply by
email to <rs...@sbwinos.org> or call Matthew Dunham at (805) 451-5814 or
Todd Atkins at (805) 689-9300.
