to Santa Ynez Wine Nights
Good Day to all the winos!!!!!

Yes yes I know I have been not so good at getting all of us together
but after a long hiatus wine nights will be starting up again. I have
been thretening this theme for a long time - South African Wines!

Date: Tuesday 10/02/2007
Venue: 1493 Aarhus Drive, #3, Solvang CA 93463 (Andreas's place)

Theme: South African Wines

Here are some guidelines on buying South African wine:

Stores that have South African wines:
1. Cost Plus World Market, State Street, Santa Barbara - (they have a
large selection - generally priced between $7,99 and $19.99)
2. Lazy Acres
3. Trader Joe's (sometimes)
4. The Wine Cask (very pricey!)
5. I have also found South Aftrican wines at Gelsons and at
Albertsons.

The producers that generaly are available in the USA are the
following:

1. Goats-do-Roam (a play on the Côtes du Rhône from the Rhône region
in France)
2. Kanu
3. Sebeka
4. Kanonkop
5. Indaba
6. Broken Stone

The signature Red South African grape is Pinotageˌ [pronounced "pino
ˈtaʒə"], a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsualt [pronounced "san-
so"] . South Africa also produces excellent Shiraz (Syrah as it is
called in the USA) . When buying South Africa white wines - Sauvignn
Blanc ad Chenin Blanc are the best bets.

But if you see anything else excpet what is mentioned above - bring it
along.

In Vino Veritas and so forth.......

Good Day all wino's,

We will be doing wine-nights the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Tuesday of the month.  I realize that this does not fit all schedules and am open to alternate week night suggestions (Monday-Thursday) for either the 2nd or 4th night. That way we could expand the group and still get to know each other. I have had several requests for weekends but my suggestion is that we keep weekends for bigger get togethers, rather than the regular meetings.

Thanks to Lynzi for being willing to host - would love to have a wine night at your place!!!!!

In Vino veritas and so forth..........
