MINUTES
City staff: Kate Vernez, Don Patterson, Bruce Davis, Sam Morrissey,
Jay Trisler, Solid Waste rep
1. L.A. Marathon debriefing - No arrests, 148 people treated in the
Mobile Field Hospital, 16 transported to local hospitals, the
recycling contrator sorted 11,000 lbs. of trash, maintenance had 26
employees on duty - need to expand, and the 1550 lot didn't work well
for family reunions as walking down the Pier bridge was difficult for
the exhausted runners.
2. Updates
a. OPA -- A flyer re the FAA "test" has been distributed to all
residents
b. Mid-City -- They have 7 Board members and have met with Kate
Vernez.
c. FOSP -- A similar airport flyer has been distributed in Sunset
Park; April 18 protest rally re SM Airport air pollution; residents
complain of packages being stolen from porches; May 8 Annual Meeting..
d. Wilmont -- Forum on Long-Term Care; June 5 Annual Meeting; St.
Monica's construction traffic impacts and TDM (shared parking was
upheld by City council).
e. PNA -- Hand-out - Resource Recovery Center workshop - May 15 at
KEC. Construction should be completed in 2012.
3. Meeting with City Manager -- scheduled for April 22nd. Discussion
of format.
4. Greening of Ocean Park Blvd. from Lincoln to Neilsen. Mary Marlow
reported that in the 1960s, the city took 10 feet of private property
on both sides, expecting to build high rises on Neilsen. The new
design will include a landscaped median, safer crosswalks, better bike
lanes and a bike box at Lincoln, a viewing platform on the 4th St.
bridge, and storm water mitigation.
5. 20th and Cloverfield street improvements -- Wes Thompson reported
on progress.
6. City Council -- 5 seats will be open in November.
7. Downtown movie theaters -- Pulled from April 21 Planning Commission
agenda.
8. Dorchester -- This building is supposed to have affordable units.
9. Development Agreement list from the Housing Commission
