Mothers’ Club – going green strengthens programs and the bottom line

Join the USGBC-LA San Gabriel Valley branch for a presentation of the
Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center. John Dale, FAIA, LEED AP, of
Harley Ellis Devereaux, building architect, and Andy Kaplan of G.L.
Kaplan Construction Co., general contractor, will discuss the process
of renovating an existing building to a LEED Gold standard to serve a
pre-school literacy center for children and their parents. A tour will
follow the presentation.

The project met LEED points for a sustainable site, energy and
atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality,
water efficiency and innovation and design process. This award-winning
facility houses an infant and toddler center, a preschool center,
children’s outdoor learning center, parent education center and
administrative offices.

Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center prepares families living in
isolation and poverty to succeed in school and in life. It promotes
strong parent-child relationships and encourages friendship and mutual
support among mothers through their education programs and social
services, thereby creating a stronger community for all families.

Parking:
The Mothers’ Club parking lot is on the south side of the building. In
addition, street parking is free with a two-hour limit until 6:00 p.m.
Please do not park in the lot north of Mothers’ Club, as it belongs to
the Community Center and is used for evening programs.
