I think this incident has been mentioned here before. This was the
case of the rich wealth fund manager who drifted off the road and hit
a cyclist (with the drivers side of his car) and then fled the scene.
The DA dropped felony charges because "felony convictions have some
pretty serious job implications for someone in Mr. Erzinger’s
profession.”

Well, he was sentenced yesterday. He got 90 day suspended sentence
and one year probation.

Here's a link to the sentencing story. If you want to get invoved
note the readers comments at the bottom.

Sometimes the system doesn't work.

If you are rich, famous, well-connected, and/or use a motor vehicle, you can easily get away w/ murder.

Velonews as another follow-up article. It's opinionated, of course,
but it gives a play-by-play of the hearing.

How about we boycott the killer's employer? Make the man unemployable.

I want to clarify a few things. The suggestion to "boycott the
killer's employer" missed the point that the cyclist survived,
although he was left for dead on the side of the road.

Second, if you want to get involved it's better to take action than to
simply post a rant in a cyclist's forum.

The readers comments in the first link that I posted contained several
addresses, Emails, and phone numbers where you can take action. It
included Morgan-Stanley (the driver's employer), Vail businiess groups
and CofC, the Quiznos Pro Race (promoted by this Armstrong guy) which
is scheduled to go through Vail next year, and the DA's office that
made this bonehead decision.
