Greetings Friends,

Are you craving more connection with the earth and with your food-source?

Heartwheel Farm CSA still has spaces available for 2011! We are
seeking individuals or households in the NE Salem area to join us for
our third season. Starting June 25 and ending in early November, we
would love to provide you with weekly boxes of fresh,
organically-grown goodness.

What's unique about our Community Supported Agriculture endeavor is
that we're very small (including fruit, we cultivate less than an
acre) and are looking for members who want a real *relationship* with
our farm. This year we have a 4-hour/season labor requirement which we
believe will add to this community feeling — with discounts available
for helping out more. We also plan on hosting at least one on-farm
celebration or member-run demonstration each month. (Are you a
passionate pickler who enjoys sharing your skills with others? Any
musicians out there?!)

And to add to the excitement... this year we're partnering again with
Forest Meadow Farm CSA and the Efimoff Family Farm to offer you
chicken, berries, tomatoes, cukes and eggs!

Here's the low-down:

• Family ($400) and 1/2 shares ($220) available.

• Deliveries will take place Saturday mornings at a convenient
drop-off point in NE Salem.

• What types of veggies will be in your box? Lots! Nutrient-dense
greens such as kale, cabbage, collards, broccoli, mustard and
choy...roots...peas, radishes, green beans, and lettuce...winter
squash...leeks...and more!

• Two organically-raised, pastured broiler chickens per family per
season. We will also provide you the opportunity to come learn how to
butcher your own chicken.

• Organic marionberries and boysenberries.

• Fun farm events! July: Wok-ing with Darrel (a stir-fry demo);
August: Farm Camp-Out; September: Making Empanadas with Joseph.

More questions? Then give us a call and we'll chat. Sign up soon!

Blessings,

Ingrid Evjen-Elias
and Tavis Bettoli-Lotten

Hi everybody, just fixed the settings on how replies are sent (didn't mean
for that to go to all).

Great opportunity though to tell you how wonderful Ingrid is!

Not only does she run Heartwheel CSA but she also is with Marion Polk
Foodshare as Community Garden Resource Coordinator -- and she won "Best All
Marion County" for her dish at Battle of the Locavore (all ingredients
sourced within 50 miles) -- here is a picture of her with prizes: Wandering
Aengus cider, Organic Fresh Fingers bag, and a melon from Minto Island
Growers, also all local companies.

If you haven't been involved in a CSA before, they are great fun and
definitely worth being a part of -- not only for the abundance of fresh,
local produce but also for the meaningful connection with the farmer.
