We have heard from lots of residents north of Nanaimo and on McGill, and
have been advocating for their area too. We have certainly not restricted
our conversations with the City to Nanaimo south of Hastings....and
"sacrificing" the folks living north of Hastings for the benefit of Nanaimo
south of Hastings is not acceptable to us either. The issues are more
complicated there, but the City is well aware of the residents' concerns
about the problem of container trucks coming off of Powell as well as coming
from further south on Nanaimo. Hopefully this situation can be mitigated for
everyone.

Subject: Re: {ACTORS:38} Truck count data
Hi Eileen and everyone else,
I am wondering where the figures came from; i.e., who did the counting? In
particular, who was counting in June before all the public frustration
exploded? Are these city, Port or our own figures? Is the count for
eastbound Nanaimo and Hastings for trucks travelling along Hastings or does
it include those turning left onto Nanaimo to travel North on the part of
Nanaimo which IS part of the major network? I can hear that our situation
south of Hastings has improved substantially, at least while there is some
measure of enforcement, but I am concerned that our peace of mind may have
been bought by sacrificing the residents north of Hastings along Nanaimo?
Could you comment? Thanks for all your dedication.
