Our top notch, on the ground field crew located in Rico has determined
that we can indeed move this one up a week, to avoid killing oneself
the week prior to Vapor Trail 125. So, the new date for the Rico-
Telluride 100 is on August 27, 2001. Rico now owns the date!

The route for this one is just amazing, some of the sweetest, high
country singletrack you can roll on, with the chance to go over
Blackhawk Pass in reverse from the DDC, and down the ultra sweet East
Fork, down Galloping Goose, up to Alta Lakes with the world class
Prospect Trail descent at the ski area in Telluride and a chance to
refuel and enjoy the day. Climb up the other side of Galloping Goose
and gentle rail grade, and then to the epic Calico loop down into
Rico. A few of us believe this is the best route of the entire
series....

See you there!

Very awesome!! Thank you Matt for the email announcing the new date for the Rico/Telluride 100. I believe this is a better date for an awesome event. Of course I am biased as I live and play in Rico. For those that have not ridden the surrounding trails in the Rico/Telluride area you will not be disappointed. Come out and play on August 27th 2011!!

The Rico-Telluride 100 is looking for SAG options, food and water donations (those home made cookies at the DDC were awesome!!), etc.    The best spot for this is right at the top of Lizard Head Pass as we will pass through here TWICE!  So therefore, we've added B&C options described below to entice more entries and perhaps SAG support.

B and C Ride Options:  If this ride is more than you want, please consider starting up at Lizard Head Pass and skipping the Blackhawk and East Fork Loop.  The B Ride would then complete the course back to Rico including the Calico Loop and the C ride would skip the Calico Loop and allow  you to finish right back at the car.  B riders can most likely get a ride in the car from an A rider up to Lizard Head Pass.

This Lizard Head Pass stage area has an added benefit:   If possible, we could have your vehicle serve as a small SAG wagon for the full Rico-Telluride 100 riders to restock with water and possible SAG bags.

Also note that the entire Rico Telluride 100 ride is very close to Highway 145 and you can bail at any time, so this will allow you to see just how much of this adventure you want to tackle.

FYI. We will have a vehicle going out for neutral support/drop bags on saturday morning. Laura will be driving the support vehicle (black Jeep) and it will be parked on highway 145 where it intersects the East Fork Trail and the Groundhog Trail. It will be unmanned and the vehicle left unlocked for access to your drop bags. Please close the doors if you need to get in it. There will be a table with water jugs and any donated food. I am asking for anyone to donate cookies, chips, etc for the neutral support. And if you would like your own drop bag in the vehicle have that ready to go in the vehicle at 6.15 am on Saturday morning. The support vehicle will be parked at the resupply location up until 6pmish. So if you need your drop bag back it will be in the Jeep and not back into Rico until after 6pm.

Also I will have a sign in sheet for everyone to sign in before the ride. Please remember to sign out after the ride where we will finish at the Enterprise Bar and Grill. I hope to have someone bring the sign in sheet to the bar for us to sign out. We will promptly start at 6.30am. Let's start in the parking lot of the fire station and if restrooms are needed I can open up the fire station for access like last year.

ps....it would be wise for everyone to have their Colorado search and rescue card.

Cya all on Saturday morning for another fun beating on the mountain bike. Let me know if they are any further questions.

That is awesome work, Jeff!  Sounds like we might be able to go without a backpack and run three bottles as this will give us three places to restock, telluride being the other.  I'll bring water and food for sure!
