Hi everyone,
Thanks for the interest in the COES! It is really amazing to watch this grow organically through the thankless efforts of this growing group of friends. People contribute both in organizing and supporting the events - but also by being good participants. On the course we have seen excellent behavior, respect for the environment and for our fellow participants. People just really get into these events and it makes for a great experience for all.
Our problem area is and will continue to be the sign up / registration. Thank you for signing up - but a no show shows a lack of courtesy and respect for not only fellow participants, but also those who volunteer and support us. We recently had a donation of coffee, pastries, and a support staff (paid to come in early for us) at an event where some participants either were fearful of potential rainfall, slept in, or just plain did not care to remove their names from the registration list. Either way it was rude.
Please if you sign up, then you show up for the start. It's pretty simple. Some events get full weeks out and it is a chess match every year trying to cull the potential no shows. We see the names who are no shows but have chose not to take any action at this time - frankly it is too much work for a volunteer series. In New Mexico they actually banish no shows for a year. We do not want to do that. So please respect fellow participants and respect your entry.
Thanks you for reading this. See you on the trails and thanks for reading this!
Regards,
COES Team
