The 2011 route for the HalfAss is posted and this year's looks pretty
fun.

Final route and waypoints are posted on the HalfAss map page, which is
also linked on the SWES page.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=216868061193022081253.00048d5548854c1c4bcd0&msa=0&ll=40.031295,-105.540161&spn=0.14511,0.338173

Notes:
-gpx/kml is not completely accurate so do follow route instructions
and landmarks (errors at Caribou in section1; at CampDick in section3;
at Gordon Gulch in section4)
-final call on Caribou single track route (or 505 the whole way) will
be made on ride day
-Gordon Gulch (final single track) will be marked with pink ribbon

Greetings All...
Attached are GPX files created from the track posted as a KML file on
the Google Maps page for the HalfAss event this Saturday. For those
who might like to use these I have broken the tracks into three
pieces, HA11Nor (north), HA11Mid (middle), HA11Sou (south) so they
should fit on most GPS devices.

Chuck,
Do you think a GPS is required? I am planning on participating in the race, and I don't have one. I have printed out all the directions that you sent and are posted on the website. I hope that will be sufficient. See you on Saturday bright and early.

Thanks,
Chad

please sign-in on the registration page, it's standard practice for
SWES and by doing so you sign the liability waiver and allow these
events to remain public

i sure hope not because i don't have one ;)
although nice to have a gps its probably more important to be familiar
with the area -general trails and roads, landmarks and such- a good
map of Boulder County is best

Most folks are rarin to roll early reportedly, so let's expect to be

Halfasser's,
I regret going ahead without someone who knows the trails in the area well. I go overzealous and thought I could figure out the rest of the Halfass on my own, but I couldn't find Switzerland Road, so I had to ride the Peak to Peak back to Ned while checking out numerous dirt roads to see if they could be Switzerland Road.  Anyways, I had a great time riding with you all, and I had a great day up until that point.  I am sure I missed some sweet riding on the Gordon ST.  Thanks for organizing this Chuck.  I hope to see you guys again next year if not sooner.

Chad

Much thanks to all!  Everyone made it back.. even if several of us had mishaps along the way and had to make a short path back.  A brief update below with Chad out front and Simon bringing it home. When the sign-in board makes it out of Happy Trails I'll post results.

cheers,
-chuck-

something benign.  Me Mark and Joe were about an hour ahead...
