Hi Allen,
I had a new Tech Writer role open up in Mountain View. Its a
contracting role that could go full time beginning of next year.
The company are building a distributed virtual storage appliance
and the technology is super cutting edge.
The description is below, please let me know if you know
anyone who could be interested in exploring this role.
Thanks,
Simon

This is not a garden-variety FrameMaker/Robohelp tech writer
position where you just sit down and grind out content. You will
be the lone creative in an engineering-driven startup and will
need to be both flexible and technically accomplished. You will
also be taking the existing first-phase technical writing effort
for the company and transitioning it to a single-sourcing
platform, which has already been specified. This is not a drone
technical writer position and FrameMaker specialists need not
apply. It's not the tool, it's the content. This is an extremely
creative, innovative opportunity for the right person.

Requirements:
6-8 years experience or more as a technical writer in
engineering-driven environments
Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite CS5, especially Dreamweaver and
InDesign, required
CSS and HTML skills required
Madcap Flare experience a strong plus
Experience in topic-based writing
Ability to stay focused with minimal direction
Comfortable in startup environment
Comfort level with source control systems such as PerForce,
Subversion and Mercurial
Strong technical illustration skills with both Illustrator and
Photoshop
Demonstrated discipline, focus and attention to detail

Nice-to-haves
Experience with white papers and other marketing content
Linux/Unix background
Previous experience with VMware, EMC, Data Domain, and associated
companies
Mature, personable (in fact, that's a requirement)
