Hello Everyone,

I have only been introduces introduced to SST a few days ago so I am fairly new and unexperienced with the environment. I have a couple of questions before I start.

What would be the minimum system requirements for a machine to run SST properly?

Is there anyplace where I can find the steps required to install and run SST?

Many Thanks

Hey Faris,

Great questions - thanks! As of right now (the SST v3.0 release) we support SST on an X86 processor with one of the configurations described here: http://code.google.com/p/sst-simulator/wiki/SSTmicroReleaseV3dot0dot0. In general we would expect SST to probably compile on most Linux platforms provided you use the compilers listed, note the SST project only supports those listed.

Simulations often require reasonable amounts of memory and a reasonably fast processor but you can tailor this by running smaller simulations for shorter periods of time. It will all depend on the complexity of your simulation models. We are working with each successive SST release to improve performance further.

Instructions on how to obtain SST and then configure/make are provided here: http://code.google.com/p/sst-simulator/wiki/SSTBuildAndInstall3dot0series

I hope this helpful, please let us know if you hit any problems or have any more questions!

Si,

Thank you very much for your reply. I will go through the links thoroughly then I will ask any questions if I run into trouble.

Best Regards,
Faris
