Hey SSEM members!
It is time for our 2nd annual, Texas-wide, CPR-training event, called Texas Two-Step, and we need YOUR help!
Texas Two Step is a free 5-minute training session in hands-only CPR designed to teach participants how to potentially save a life. Training teams representing all 11 Texas medical schools will conduct this statewide hands-only CPR training to raise public awareness of hands-only CPR and train as many people as possible to save lives. It would also look great on your CV’s!
Join us the weekend of February 11th and 12th to help us reach our goal of training 10,000 people (doubling our results from last year) while learning how you can save a life. It could be the life of someone you love. A very short informational learning tool will be sent to you, in advance, to help you prepare for teaching others. Do not feel overwhelmed by the thought of teaching others CPR; the instructions are very straight forward.
This year we are planning to have 5-6 sites within the Houston area, as well as visits from, and the support of, Dr. Mehmet Oz, the famous cardiovascular surgeon! Other sponsors include Dr. Oz's national non-profit HealthCorps, The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), The Texas College of Emergency Physicians (TCEP), the leadership consulting firm MaveRx, health law and consulting firm the Spiers Group, as well as hospitals and medical schools across the state.
Please fill out your information and site/shift preferences through the link below. We will do our best to accommodate them. I have attached the press release form with more information to this post. Please voice any concerns or questions within the comments section or by emailing me at shane...@uth.tmc.edu.
