Hey guys!

Dr. Angela Siler Fisher, who will be coming to speak to us in October, sent over some information regarding the ERAS application for the MS IVs , and how to get involved in some of the different EM groups across Texas and the U.S. for all of us to look at. It is really helpful information so I would encourage you all to take some time to read through it! Her email is below.

I am looking forward to presenting a lecture for the UT-Houston EMIG next month. I thought it might be good to forward some information that you can share since timing is everything especially for the MS IVs preparing their ERAS applications. Click here to learn more about the MaveRx approach to leadership development. I am also including a quick review below:

Step 1: Start with the end in mind! Write down your goals then network and formalize mentorships with those you wish to emulate. These mentors will assist you in reaching your goals by assisting you in creating your roadmap to achieve success. Click here for great networking tips.

Step 2: Establish credibility. Reach out for opportunities to work with your mentors, apply for leadership opportunities, and run for elected positions. TCEP, ACEP, EMA, CORD, SAEM, TMA, and county medical societies all offer medical student leadership opportunities. One may also find opportunities for leadership roles locally within your medical school.

Step 3: Work with your mentors to identify opportunities to ensure acknowledgement of your successes. Click here to find list of medical student awards for students matching in emergency medicine.

Don’t miss out on other important leadership development tips that will aid you in reaching your goals!

I look forward to working with you in the future!
Cheers!
