Regional Southeastern SAEM Meeting

I hope your holiday breaks have been great! Dr. Van Meter forwarded me this email to send along to you guys.

Hello folks. We will be hosting the Regional Southeastern SAEM meeting Feb 10&11 in Jacksonville this year! See below. These regional meetings are primarily aimed at younger faculty, residents and students and are always a blast (and educational) to attend. More information will be coming soon, but I want to ask you to begin to reach out to your student groups and EMIGs, so they can make plans if they would like to attend.

 

We are planning to make this meeting very student friendly, with Sat morning (11th) dedicated to a resident/student focused "EM Olympics". Fri evening will have a special student advisement session, hopefully at a cool local brewery downtown.

 

We try to keep costs minimal for students (we remember being that broke, don't we!). Sometimes there is a 25% charge for students to attend, but in the past we have had good luck with the home institutions "sponsoring with a block grant" and having this "cover" the cost of students and residents to attend. More details on this issue to come soon, but suffice it to say the cost of the actual meeting for students should be miniscule. We can also help try to arrange room sharing and other ways to keep costs down.

 

Please let us know if you are interested and, when you can, give us a rough idea of numbers of folks you might expect. it will help us in planning, and making sure everyone gets the attention they deserve. please forward this to any student leaders, EMIGs, student advisors, or anyone else you think might have an interest in this. If you CC me on the forwarding, I will be bale to answer any questions they have directly.
