Reminder to renew SEM membership for 2021-22

Dear members of the RMSS,

I would like to remind you, if you haven't already done so, to renew your SEM membership for the upcoming (2021-22) academic year. This year the SEM leadership has specifically asked that those renewing their memberships also consider updating their member service interests in their profile in the member directory. Details regarding membership renewal and updating service interests are included below. Please also remember to indicate your membership in the RMSS when completing your renewal.

An SEM membership offers large discounts on registration fees for our Annual Meeting; all three issues of Ethnomusicology for 2021; and access to the Members’ Area of the SEM website, which features the SEM Newsletter, the member directory, and discount codes for use with several publishers. Purchase of a membership also facilitates participation in the 2021 SEM Member Survey, which closes on September 15. To purchase or renew a membership, visit the Membership area of the SEM website.

To update service interests, members should log in to the SEM website, select “Manage Profile” on the right side of the page, and then select “Edit Bio” in the center of the page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to enter service interests, such as service on the Council, committees, or publications. Note that service interest entries are used by SEM officers for recruitment. Service interests are not visible in member public profiles.
