to Alignment, Seattle Public Schools
The superintendent has, when pressed, said things like this. She has,
when pressed, said that students could substitute an AP class for
Language Arts 11A and 11B. She has been much slower to discuss the
idea that any class other than Language Arts 11A could meet the
curricular requirements for Language Arts 11A. More to the point, I
have yet to hear her say - or even suggest - that a Language Arts 11A
class could meet the curricular requirements for Language Arts 11A
even if it does not use the District-defined set of materials.
When are we going to hear that? So far, all of her references to
alignment have included standardized texts.
